Privacy Policy

Introduction
Curlo ("we", "our", or "the app") is a native macOS application developed by Qianlan Du. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use Curlo.
In short: your audio files, search queries, metadata, tags, indexes, and analysis results stay on your Mac. We only process limited account and purchase information when needed to provide downloads, Pro access, payment processing, and support.
Information We Process
Curlo does not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or telemetry from your audio library. However, if you download Curlo, purchase Pro, activate Pro, or contact support, we may process the following limited information:
- Your email address, used to bind and verify Pro access
- Your plan, entitlement status, purchase date, renewal status, and related license records
- Checkout references, transaction identifiers, receipts, and subscription status received from our payment provider
- Messages and contact details you provide when contacting support
- Basic technical request data generated when our website or licensing service is accessed, such as server logs needed for security, debugging, and abuse prevention
Local Processing
All of Curlo's features — including semantic search, metadata processing, and audio analysis — run entirely on your Mac. Your audio files, search queries, tags, and all other data remain on your local device and are not uploaded to our servers for indexing, search, or analysis.
Network Access
Curlo is designed to work locally for audio library indexing and search. Network access may be used for:
- Downloads and updates: to download the app or receive update-related information.
- Pro entitlement verification: to verify whether the email address associated with your purchase has an active Pro or lifetime entitlement.
- Checkout and payment status: to complete purchases and confirm payment or subscription status through our payment provider.
These network requests are not used to upload your audio files, local indexes, search queries, tags, UCS classifications, or metadata edits.
Local API
Curlo provides an optional local HTTP API that is only accessible from your own machine (localhost). This API does not expose any data to the internet and does not accept connections from external networks.
Third-Party Services
Curlo does not integrate third-party analytics or advertising services. We use third-party services only where needed to operate the product, including:
- Creem: used for checkout, subscription billing, payment processing, receipts, invoices, and related transaction handling. Creem processes payment information under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers: used to host the website, downloads, licensing endpoints, and related backend services.
How We Use Information
We use the limited account and purchase information described above to:
- Provide downloads and product access
- Bind Pro access to the email address used for purchase
- Verify active subscriptions, lifetime purchases, and license entitlements
- Process support requests
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug service issues
- Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and payment obligations
Data Retention
We retain account, license, purchase, and support records for as long as needed to provide Curlo, maintain Pro access, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and keep accurate business records. Local audio library data remains on your Mac and is controlled by you.
Children's Privacy
Curlo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. If we make material changes, we may also provide notice through the website, the app, or email when appropriate.
